At International Balkan University, October has been a month of Faculty Student Elections! On 1st of October 2024 the elections for Members and President of the Faculty Student Assembly were announced. This announcement prescribed signature collection in the first 2 weeks of the October and campaign period in the second 2 weeks of October, while the election day was scheduled on 28th of October.

All enrolled students had equal right to run for Members of Faculty Student Assembly and President of Faculty Student Assembly. In order for students to execute this right they had to follow the process of the Nomination. The process of Nomination took place in the first 2 weeks of the October and all candidates collected signatures (at least 5%) from students of their faculty through the Nomination List provided by the University thus making them legitimate and legal candidates of their faculties.

After the confirmation of the names of the candidates by the Electoral commission of each faculty the campaign period began from 16 until 26 of October. During the campaign period all the candidates had the opportunity to revel their programs, have gatherings with their fellow colleagues and meetings with stakeholders.

The elections day started early in the morning at 8:00 o’clock. The hall of the Rectorate of the International Balkan University was remodeled into a voting station. There were 8 tables placed at the Hall, at each table there were 3 members of each faculty Electoral commission constituted by 2 students and one member of the academic staff. There were 8 voting boxes in each table and they were labeled with acronyms of the faculties. Two voting polls were placed and they assured that the voting was secret and free. The voting process started at 11 o’clock and lasted until 15:00 o’clock.

During this period students had opportunity to use their right to vote for members and/or president of their Faculty Student Assembly. The voting process was peaceful, fair, democratic and secret, and 395 students used their right to vote.

The voting process was closed according to the schedule at 15:00 o’clock after which a counting process started. The counting process took place in a special room and the boxes were opened in front of the Electoral Commission and a counting process was performed.

After the counting the process minutes were prepared and signed by the Electoral commission and the results were published. With this International Balkan University completed the establishment of the two main bodies of student at faculty level and that is the Members of Faculty Student Assembly and President of Faculty Student Assembly for the academic year 2024/2025.
