Empowering Mothers: Addressing Stigma of Children with Disabilities

Asst. Mia Kostovska and Asst. Sumea Ramadani from the IBU’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), together with Asst. Fatime Ziberi from the Faculty of Education (FEDU), conducted a workshop at the Resource Center “Idnina” for mothers of children with disabilities.

The workshop focused on the topic “Stigma of Children with Disabilities”, delving into the primary sources of stigma, including schools, medical institutions, public spaces, and even within the family environment.

Through interactive and participatory exercises, the workshop addressed the key challenges faced by these mothers and provided practical recommendations for combating and managing stigma.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for this meaningful collaboration and the opportunity to engage in such an essential dialogue.
