The Career Services Center at IBU successfully organized an enlightening seminar featuring Dr. Ayşe Altunkaya Erdoğmuş, a distinguished clinical psychologist and academic with extensive expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Couple and Family Therapy.
Dr. Ayşe shared her clinical journey, offering participants valuable insights into the distinction between a clinical psychologist and a therapist. She emphasized the importance of specializing in a specific field of psychotherapy, such as psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, existential, or other approaches, and the necessity of obtaining certification and supervision within these schools.
One of the key points highlighted by Dr. Ayşe was that psychotherapy is not just a technique but a relationship, underscoring the essential role of building trust and understanding with clients. She also stressed the importance of therapists being self-aware and continuously working on their personal and professional growth.
The seminar was introduced by Ms. Haxhere Aliu, the representative of Career Services at IBU, who welcomed participants and introduced Dr. Ayşe Altunkaya Erdoğmuş to the audience.
