Guest Lectures conducted by Prof. Dr. Aurela Anastasi as part of the Joint Course in Comparative Constitutional Law organized by IBU Faculty of Law in partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University.
 
On 4th and 18th March 2024, as part of the program of the Joint Course in Comparative Constitutional Law, IBU Faculty of Law in partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University, had the honor of inviting for an online guest lecture Prof. Dr. Aurela Anastasi, the Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Tirana.
 
Professor Anastasi is the author of several monographs, textbooks and scientific articles, human rights reports, and speeches in the field of Constitutional law and gender equality in society.
 
She has been involved in research projects and working groups for drafting legal acts, such as the constitutional reform of the justice system in Albania, gender equality and protection from discrimination, the agreements between the Council of Ministers and the religious communities in Albania and the reform for academic research institutions.
She is also a defense attorney specialized in women rights.
 
Prof. Dr. Aurela Anastasi contributed immensely on the program by providing two open online lectures on the respective days for the students of the Faculty of Law.
 
On 4th of March Professor Anastasi analyzed the identity of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania by making an overview regarding of its history, the separation of powers and the characteristics of the bodies exercising these powers.
She analyzed the protection of the human rights and the notion of “The Supranational Identity” clearly related with the relationship between Albania and European Union foreseen as well under the Constitution.
 
On 18th of March, Professor Anastasi presented the constitutional reform of the justice system in Albania, the significance of this reform, the establishment of the new institutions of justice, the vetting process and the results that it brought. Students of the Faculty of Law of both universities shared their interest by asking questions.In the end, the Dean of the Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikola Dacev, the main coordinators of the program Prof. Dr. Madelyn S. Ferrans and Asst. Leposava Ognjanoska Stavrovska as well as the students of the Faculty of Law from both universities shared their deepest gratitude toward Prof.Dr. Aurela Anastasi for her contribution in the program, with the intention of having more collaborations in the future.
