IBU successfully implemented its first COIL Joint Course in Comparative Constitutional Law in partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University

During the Spring 2024 semester, students from the IBU Faculty of Law had the opportunity to learn alongside cohorts from abroad at our partner institution Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), New Jersey, USA.

This collaboration was facilitated through COIL, the Collaborative Online International Learning program, which IBU joined in 2023 through the established partnership with FDU.

IBU FLAW Asst. Leposava Ognjanoska Stavrovska teamed up with Prof. Dr. Madelyn Ferrans, Senior Lecturer of Law at FDU’s Florham Campus, to teach Comparative Constitutional Law.

IBU is a pioneer in the country in using the COIL method to facilitate global classrooms.

The Joint Course proved to be a great success as the students managed to study the similarities and differences between different legal systems and also to learn more about cultural sensitivity and how to incorporate diversities into a meaningful discussion.

A closing ceremony was organized to award the students with certificates of completion and to thank them for their active participation and contribution.

Participants were graced to be accompanied by IBU's esteemed Rector Prof. Dr. Lutfi Sunar who highlighted the importance of this cooperation to create better educational opportunities for our students.

Through Bridging Perspective Worldwide (BPW), a new student-centered group, interested students can continue the conversation with their international partners, meeting each month.
