About Department

The PhD Program in Turkish Language and Literature at International Balkan University aspires to cultivate scholars capable of imparting knowledge on the historical development of the Turkish language and its literary heritage within a framework that adheres to international academic standards. The program is grounded in the conviction that this objective can be best realized by integrating research with teaching processes. Thus, its core mission is to foster a collaborative environment where both faculty and students can contribute meaningfully to the field of Turkish Language and Literature on a global scale.

PhD candidates are selected based on their ability to engage in advanced analysis, their inclination toward critical and analytical thinking, their enthusiasm for learning foreign languages, and their potential to propose innovative and creative solutions to the challenges facing Turkish literature. Faculty members regard these candidates not merely as passive students but as future colleagues who are expected to make substantial contributions to the field. Moreover, students are encouraged and supported to engage in critical scholarly publications throughout the course of their studies.

The program’s comprehensive design seeks to equip students with the academic and intellectual skills necessary to contribute to the Turkish Language and Literature at an international level, fostering a dynamic and research-oriented academic culture.
